The Cougars outscored the LA Sparks 29-22, causing the LA Sparks to lose their first game of the season. Both teams are now tied with overall records of 2-1. The Cougars were led by Kolbert and McCOy, who each scored 7 points. Ciraulo also chipped in 7 points for the LA Sparks, while Bracken put up 5.
Junior
The Bolters won their second game of the day over the Tigers. While the Tigers outscored the Bolters in the second half 12-10, they could not come back from a 10 point first half deficit. They were able to pull within four points of the Bolters late in the second half, but then the Bolters went on a run in the last few minutes to secure the victory. The Tiger’s John Preston was a beast on the boards and scored a team-high 12 points. The Bolter’s Malik Bontzolakes also scored 12 points. His excellent performance in both games earned him 12/9 Junior Division Player of the Week!
The Cougars lost their first game of the season in a very tight and competitive game against the Bolters. The Bolters only had a 1 point lead at half time and outscored the Cougars by 3 in the second half to win 36-32. The Bolter’s Greydan Barnwell had a game-high 16 points. He currently leads the division in total points and points per game. His teammate Malik Bontzolakes scored 7 of his 8 points in the second half to help lead his team to victory. The Cougar’s Gino McCoy scored 9 points in the second half to help keep his team in the game. He led his team with 11 total points. His teammate Chayce Kolbert added 10 points in the tight race.
The LA Sparks improved to 2-0 on the season with a 44-21 victory over the Tigers. While the Tigers kept it close in the first half, they went cold offensively in the second half while the LA Sparks stayed hot and pulled away. It was a nice team win for the LA Sparks. Zach Molino, Shaunah Bracken, Jerry Hatt, and Chance Ciraulo each scored 8 points in the victory. The Tiger’s Jude Gerbec also scored 8 points while teammate Colin Balcarczyk scored 7.
